~DECEMBER EDITION~

It's that time of the month again -- a moment to reflect upon our recent events and update you on the wonderfully ebullient happenings in Demarest Hall!

First...an event recap (in case you missed 'em!) [November 15] We didn't let the (pesky, unnecessary, out-of-the-blue) snow stop us from having a glorious FALL DRAG SHOW! A bunch of performers--ranging from genuine drag queens to Demarest residents--stole the show with their risqué outfits and captivating dance moves. Many thanks to Taylor Crabtree, our Sex, Sexuality & Gender section leader, for planning and hosting such a successful event. We love you all, and you'll always be our "Dancing Queens"!

[November 29] There is nothing more "Demarest" than our monthly coffeehouses, and this one was truly a hit. With the theme "Christma-hannu-kwanza," we wanted to focus on the inclusion of multiple celebrations during these cold, winter months. (Take that, seasonal affective disorder!) We heard lovely acoustic performances, more full bands than usual (wow!), and poetry readings. It's always a pleasure to sit under the fairy lights of the basement and immerse yourself into this intimate display of the arts. Come to our next one, details coming soon!

Patrick Hazard gets us in the holiday spirit with his saxophone renditions of "New York State of Mind" and "All I Want For Christmas Is You" -) Upcoming Events (Fall Semester) [December] Dec. 7 // DemiSemi — 8:30pm-11:30pm Dec. 13 // Annual Holiday Party — 8pm-10pm Doodle of the Month (from our community art journal)

And our personal favorite: "Demarest: home of the posers, the punk snobs, and the fake artists." (They hate us 'cause they ain't us )  Oh, yeah, and Visual Arts section is diligently working on a muralfor the third floor lounge -- updates to come! It's time we add some life into that dismal lounge, huh?) (Props to Kierin Rogers, Kiara Lopez and all other hands on deck!)
